My Pilates Philosophy is simple...Work Smart, not frantic! In a day when we have little time to spend on our health, it is important to spend our time wisely. Utilizing the techniques designed by Joseph Pilates we can work in many different ways. We can work to condition a de-conditioned body, rehabilitate a healing body or fine tune the athletic body. My background...as a former Dancer, I used Pilates originally as rehabilitaion after an injury. I then discovered I could build strength and endurance as well as prevent the typical injuries by incorporating Pilates into my workouts. I have chosen The Pilates Coach for certifications because of their therapeutic approach to the body-mind connection. |

| Pilates - Developed in the 1920s by legendary physical trainer and founder of the Pilates Studio, Joseph H. Pilates, Pilates is an exercise system focused on the equal and balanced improvement of total body flexibility and strength. Naturally, the first to use the Pilates Method were such pioneers of American dance as Martha Graham and George Balanchine. Pilates is more than exercise. It is a pioneering science and art, based on yoga and the range of motion found in dance and sport, transported into the modern world of technology with a series of controlled movements, engaging and reforming body and mind. It is performed on specifically-designed exercise apparatuses (Reformers, et al) and supervised by trained teachers. Pilates equipment is the original integrated-motion technology. There is also mat and floor work. |

| Gyrotonic®/Gyrokinesis® - The Gyrotonic Expansion System® was originally designed for professional dancers, who have been receiving the benefits of Gyrotonic® training for more than 15 years. The movements are based on swimming and gymnastics as well as on yoga, tai-chi and dance. The system enables one to achieve simultaneous strength and flexibility, facilitating full articulation of the joints, relief from chronic injuries, correction of alignment, neuromuscular coordination and balance. As a result, we help our clients develop a body with lean musculature that is strong, flexible and injury free. Based on the same principles as Gyrotronic, Gyrokinesis is the style of yoga that emerged from the genius of Juliu Horvath, a renowned Romanian ballet dancer, gymnast, swimmer, and yoga master. Gyrokinesis is a dynamic practice done without the use of any equipment. It works the shoulders, spine and lower body with gentle circular movements in prone, sitting, and standing positions. It releases tension and chronic stiffness while maintaining motion. A single class relieves muscle stress, leaves you invigorated and more aware of your entire body. Practiced regularly, it revitalizes your body's natural energy, strengthens your core, achieves greater flexibility and an overall sense of well-being. |
